New Chapters

Where books create brighter futures.

New Chapters is Kisharon Langdon's social enterprise, transforming donated books into meaningful opportunities for adults with learning disabilities and autistic people to develop the skills, confidence and experience needed for the world of work.

Based in our 3,000-square-foot warehouse in Harrow, New Chapters operates as a thriving online second-hand bookselling business with a powerful social purpose. Every donated book and every order placed helps create opportunities for the people we support to learn, contribute and thrive in a real working environment.

Working alongside our dedicated staff and volunteers, participants play an active role in the day-to-day running of the business. From sorting and quality checking donations to listing books online, managing stock, processing customer orders and preparing deliveries, every task helps build practical skills and confidence.

Developing skills for the future

At New Chapters, individuals gain hands-on experience in a genuine commercial setting while developing valuable transferable skills, including:

Digital and IT skills
Customer service
Stock and inventory management
Teamwork and communication
Organisation and time management
Responsibility and workplace confidence

These experiences help participants grow in independence, prepare for future opportunities and take meaningful steps towards volunteering, further training and, where possible, paid employment.

New Chapters also provides supported work experience placements for college students and young adults with learning disabilities, offering a safe, inclusive environment where they can develop workplace skills at their own pace.

Every book makes a difference

As a social enterprise, every book donated and every purchase made directly supports New Chapters and its mission. Income generated through the business is reinvested to create more opportunities for people with additional needs to develop their skills, increase their independence and reach their full potential.

Whether you're clearing your bookshelves or searching for your next great read, you can make a real difference.
